Summary
David had a pretty good handle on how fucked Ilya’s childhood was. He wasn’t a moron. He knew that Ilya had worn a Boston Raiders’ shirt to his house in case he got violent against his own son. It made his whole chest ache, but they’d talked about it, dancing around it until he thought they came to an understanding. He’d honestly thought they’d worked through their tension and Ilya didn’t think he was going to be hurt in his home. He really did.
There was puke and blood on the floor, and David would be amused at how wrong he was if the situation hadn’t been so serious. He’d find it in him later to realize how good of an actor Ilya was, how skilled he was at faking that he wasn’t shit-scared of David every single minute of every single day.
Or Ilya, sick out of his skull with a fever and terrified, tries to protect Yuna from David.
