Summary
Alastor was content to live out his peaceful life as a priest (though he was a man far, far from redemption), manipulating his flock, being worshipped by the pitiful masses and going on ‘hunting trips’ whenever he so desired.
Then, the Whitman boy shows up, and everything changes.
Alastor is hardly a pious man but Vincent brings out an ugliness (and more disgustingly, a fondness) in him that threatens to plunge them both into a whole new realm of obsessive, unholy depravity.
May the God Alastor doesn’t believe in have mercy on their souls.

Summary
When Vincent was five years old, he and his family suffered an accident during their usual fishing trip out at sea in the middle of a storm. When he was on the verge of death, he was saved by a strange creature and… he can’t remember anything after that. All he has left is a pearl and a legend his mother told him in his hands.
Twenty-five years later, he is thirty when he returns to Brackish Hollow after his parents’ case was closed and they were declared dead, but when he sees the sea at night, the memories he lost come rushing back all at once, and the creature too, only he can’t just let it go like that this time.

“I’ve missed you too,” Vincent confesses.
Yeah, this is– they’ve overdone it with the drinks pretty bad.
The warmth from the whiskey churns inside Alastor’s guts, making his fingers feel numb. He tears his gaze away, staring at the whiteness of the ceiling instead of whatever is behind Vincent’s eyes.
The ceiling fan rotates on its axis, not doing much to snuff out the heat of the room. Vincent’s hand is still there, cupping his face, caressing his cheek.
Vincent’s voice cuts in. “Can I kiss you?” Ever so soft.
The fan is still spinning, worthlessly.
“Do you have to ask every time?”
Or: Alastor misses Vincent and they make out. Hard.
