Jayce hadn’t budged from the end of the hallway, just stupidly paralyzed.
The leather oxford loafers were tossed off from Viktor’s feet. As he lifted his head to address his statuesque partner, Viktor only commented on his lack of response, “Jayce, you look like you have seen a ghost.”
“Hi, welcome home! I mean-” Jayce threw himself out of balance. He blurted out his frantic correction, “Welcome to my home!”

Viktor can’t tell if it’s meant to be an insult or not. He doesn’t think so. It sounds disarmingly sincere, but then, so do most things that come out of Jayce’s mouth. “It’s Viktor.”
“Viktor,” Jayce repeats, and ah, as suspected, the sound of Viktor’s name in his mouth feels like running his hand over an open flame. “It’s an honour to be in your class this year. I hope we have a lot to learn from each other.”
