Summary
Cosette is reasonable. She wouldn't have to resort to such underhandedness if the men around her (or one man in particular) didn't insist on keeping secrets!
With all that unprocessed resentment after nearly losing her father to secrecy, she takes matters into her own hands and reads a letter sent to her Papa by a Monsieur Javert, who was away with her husband on a business trip.
