"Fate has brought us back to this place, again and again," she whispered as the music died. She lifted a hand to catch a ray of moonlight. "Sylus, do you believe in Fate?"
A strange sharpness hewed through his chest. Who is she? He could not recall. Backlit by the stained glass, her features remained steeped in shadow, yet a reply tumbled from him spontaneously, as if he was reciting from a script.
“Only enough to defy it.”
“But we have more than one path in Fate,” she replied, her tone sedate. “In the endless flow of Time, we must overcome each and every one of them.”
“Then we need only defy them all,” the Dragon answered.
