Out of everyone here, Kaz was probably the only other person who knew exactly what her heat would do to her. Why she couldn’t trust the people she loved. His eyes bore that same pain that she saw in the mirror every morning. The ache deep in her abdomen to be filled by something she loathed the idea of. The betrayal at her own gender, her own body’s reactions at a thing she despised and lusted for in equal measure. The deep rooted pain and fear of having her body stolen from her, touched by unwanted hands. The overwhelming sensations of it all, stemming from something out of her control. Above all, that burning hatred for the lack of control simmered in his eyes, a reflection of her own.
She didn’t know if she particularly liked this Kaz fellow, but she knew at that moment she trusted him with her life.'
