"My take has always been Nyx births them in Tartarus but sends them away to the upper world when they’re old enough because she has seen the world below from the night sky and thinks it is beautiful and lovable, compared to the dark monstrous and screaming expanse of Tartarus, a chamber, a prison, a place of torture. She loves her children as much as the night sky, a boundless entity can. She would like them to experience the world the way she sees the mortals do, how other gods and spirits do."

Summary
The Shades are unhappy, more than they usually are. Hypnos is used to days where he has to float above the crowd because there’s so many lined up waiting to make a request for Lord Hades, but in the past week or so, there’s so many that they’re filling up the room, and they all have the same complaint.
Elysium, their perfect fighting paradise, is flooding with a strange, fog-like water.

after a simple mistake in his young childhood, Hypnos has to deal with the aftermath. It turns out better than he could have imagined.

Summary
Thanatos bounced the ball to Zagreus as the royal toddler bounced up and down on his toes, and the ball soared right over his head. It took one more triumphant bounce against the marble flooring behind him, sprung over the railings, and plopped right into the red waters of the river Styx.
“Oh...,” Thanatos heard the little prince say quietly, and they scampered to the railings.
Too small to see over just yet, they peeped between the bars at the ball, bobbing and ducking and slowly drifting from the shore. Thanatos looked down at Zagreus, and felt a pang in his chest at the sad glint in his mismatched eyes, and the little tremble of his bottom lip. At that, he felt he really had no choice.
“I can get it, Zagreus.”

Summary
Hermes is condemned to be mortal in camp half-blood, he was against the rule of Olympian parenting, Zeus punished him to be mortal with the name of Hector. For the sake of his pride and dignity he kept it between Chiron, Charon and Dionysus. He is not a camper though, he is an assistant (Hector of Troy) who Chiron hired.
Charon was bitter about it; how dare Olympus punish his crush? but he could not intervene. Their relationship strained because of that, but not broken.
Charon (sometimes) dresses up as a mortal to visit Hermes
Meanwhile Chronos (with Hypnos’s help) gives Percy his prophetic-dreams.This story takes place on the third book.
