Wow, this was a magic reveal fic that took its time to get to the magic reveal. And also was very successful in drawing out the tension in angst dwelling ways. This story is not a happy one. There's hope and love, but I would not call anything other than the very start, and the very end, happiness.

This fic was interesting, Harry trying to outmameuver to chess masters. The writing style starts out a bit dramatic, but it smooths out over the course of the story. I don't know much about the Fantastic Beasts series, but I appreciated how this fic brought in the events and characters from it. Harry does go through obligatory stages of morose angsting, but he also has friends and allies willing to kick his butt into gear.

Apparently the OG fic that inspired the other soulmate fic I bookmarked. It's great, in-depth, and takes the time to explore the pasts of each of the soulmates, as well as tie up the series with a fittingly dramatic ending.
