Summary
“Brother,” he says, “I’m the biggest fuck-up alive.”
Robby doesn’t answer right away. Instead there's beeping, a garbled voice over a PA system, and someone calling for Type A blood – Robby’s type, Jack thinks, a familiar chill gathering in his stomach. He pushes himself to his feet, adrenaline sharpening his vision as he strains to listen closer. An ER, definitely, which wouldn't be strange at all if Robby wasn't on sabbatical.
“Robby, man, talk to me. Where are you?” Something happened to Duke, probably. Robby can't escape the fucking ED even on vacation.
Jack opens the access door, going back the way he came. He's still faster than the elevator and he can't shake the feeling that he needs to be quick.
“Hello?” The woman’s voice is unfamiliar and French-sounding. “This is Elodie Bergevin, nurse at Chinook Regional Hospital, attempting to reach Jack Abbot on behalf of Michael Robinavitch.”
“This is Abbot,” Jack says, already running.
