Summary
Minthara is defeated by these strange true souls at the goblin temple; but not killed. Exposure to the artifact they carried has loosened the Absolute’s hold on her, but not completely freed her. She is transported back to Moonrise towers, head throbbing, mind a muddled mess. Then a panicked young woman crashes into her, a woman perhaps even more confused than Minthara, the resurrected Isobel Thorm, daughter of Ketheric. Together they fight their way free of Moonrise Towers, fleeing with a moon lantern into the shadow-cursed lands.
They have both lost everything, the only comfort for either is the arms of the other. Maybe that will be enough. Perhaps they can now fight back, defeat the absolute, and build new lives, together.
After all, Isobel’s love, Aylin, is dead and gone, despite her immortality.
Isn’t she?

Summary
Despite having never left Reithwin, Isobel was hardly naïve to the ways of the world. She’d given up her flimsy excuse that it was the summer’s heat that filled her dreams with visions of Aylin’s shoulders or that such flowers were merely a gift of gratitude.
Selûne herself shone through her window. Watching. Protecting. Judging. Isobel stared directly into the light and opened the book that had been hidden under her pillow for days– a cracked and yellowed guide to local flora. She flipped to the back, her breaths hot in her mouth as she traced the description under viola again and again.
Thoughts of a lover. Its gentle upturned face and petals seem to only ask one thing: think of me, keep me in your mind.
The words burned in Isobel’s chest. Lover.
Aylin was the child of her Goddess– a woman made to cleave the night sky with her silvered sword and be worshipped by those that watched.
Isobel shut the book, her mind firmly made up. She knew how to worship. It was the blade’s edge of heresy, but she wanted to worship Aylin in a way that would leave Selûne shaking and aghast.
