    Once Upon A Time: There was a powerless boy with an impossible dream. It was a dream of heroism, of hope, of humanity, of care, and of peace.

    This dream only earned the boy the mocking laughter and ridicule of his peers, yet he still held out hope that he would be able to be a hero.

    Then, one day, as he was faced with his daily torment at the hands of someone he once called friend… he was able to be a hero. Just for an instant, just long enough to push his tormentor out of the way, and just long enough to know that he had done something good before he fell into that black and purple mist.

    Unfortunately… no good deed goes unpunished and the punishment the boy faced was one of utmost cruelty, especially for one who held a dream like his.

    Now, as the boy stands upon feet that will never feel the world under him and he picks up the pieces of his shattered dream with hands of metal that cannot feel anything beyond the warm, red ichor that drenched their predecessors, Izuku Midoriya must reckon with what comes next, who he will become, and how he can move forward when he does not believe he has the right to do so.

    “What was the question? Something about their quirk?”

    Izuku’s shoulders dropped slightly.

    “I asked them if someone without a quirk could become a hero.”

    Stendhal-san snorted. Izuku’s shoulders nearly covered his ears. He knew, he heard it from All Might already, he didn’t need to have Stendhal-san repeat it, too-

    “Obviously,” Stendhal-san said, leaning back on his arms. “Quirks are merely tools; plenty of heroes have perfect quirks and not an ounce of heroism in their blood. You’re already more of a hero than numbers 2 through 10, combined.”

    Izuku could feel the tears slipping down his cheeks, sobbing at the words he had been yearning to hear for so long.

    “Did they- did they not say that?” Stendhal-san asked, startled by Izuku’s reaction.

    Or, in other words: the five times Izuku learned something about Stendhal-san, and the one time he got to use everything he knew.
