He just breathed in the smoke of his cigarette, letting the nicotine burn his throat and overtake the other burning that was flaring throughout his body.

Crosshair’s eyes narrowed. Hunter had always been good at hiding injuries—it was a common problem they faced during the war—and it seemed he had only gotten better since adding Omega to the family. Crosshair wasn’t even sure this was an injury, but something was definitely off. That kind of sound wouldn’t usually make him so… jumpy.
