Summary
He sang into the mic but didn’t hear his words coming back to him through the expensive earphones. He only heard his own cries, begging the vampire not to leave him. He heard the manic laughter echoing through the walls as the vampire allowed the fire to take him. He heard the bark of a dog outside the lair, making fun of his pain. His fingers gripped the cold metal leg of the mic stand but it was fire that he felt burning his fingers as he desperatly tried to reach into the fire. His fingers went white with pressure around the rod and still it didn’t stop the ashes from slipping through his fingers. Nothing could bring the man back.

Summary
Maester Aemon still has his sight when Jon Snow arrives at Castle Black to swear his vows. Targaryen’s might have typically had pale hair and purple eyes, but Maester Aemon would recognise his family anywhere.
His vows have been tested three times before. This is his fourth and final test and, after nearly eighty years of being a bystander at the Wall whilst his family destroyed themselves, Aemon decides that enough is enough. He’s been a man of the Nights Watch for most of his life; but he’s been a Targaryen all his life.
He might be old and trapped at the Wall, but he grew up in Kings Landing and no one knows the Game of Thrones like he does.
And so, everything changes.
