Summary
After a shitshow of a mission spanning hours in the Siberian permafrost, the taskforce passed out in the back of their evac truck. Everyone except Ghost and Roach.
They never got time alone like this. That's probably for the best. It's how they ended up plastered in a bar the next evening, stuffed in the back of a taxi, holding each other the subsequent morning in a safe house bedroom.
For once in his life, the lieutenant is petrified. They're treading on thin ice--love in the military is a dangerous gamble to make.
*Smut in the second chapter, although it isn't the point of this work (that's just how it ended up lol). Plot with a paragraph or two of vaguely detailed porn. Roach's body is described ambiguously enough so you can imagine him as trans or cis as you please.*

Summary
Shaking, Ghost lifted both hands and gestured downwards to sign the most simplistic form of begging he’d ever willingly given.
“Stay?”
Soap regarded him carefully, and Ghost knew that he was read like an open book now. With no mask to hide behind his face was marred by whatever fleeting emotion passed through his head and heart in tandem. He could hide nothing like this, and it was terrifying. He slept soundly with his mask for this very reason, and Soap just watched all the while.
He was deciding if it was worth it.
The olive branch held across the ravine that divided their lives- the opening he’d been asked to give. A promise to try.
“Can I hold you?” was a hushed challenge to test the newfound boundaries between them as Soap’s hand hovered near the door.
. . .
The aftermath and recovery of torture as Soap fished out one [1] resident stupid from the river like a half-drowned cat.
Ghost is a broken man. Soap might bloody his hands on the jagged pieces, but he puts Simon back together again at the end of the day.Series

The sight wasn’t terribly surprising, most people these days developed soulbonds sooner or later; a handful of his friends already had theirs. Lucky individuals would fall asleep one night, and wake up the next day with flowers imprinted on their skin to match their soulmate’s cuts and scars.
A Scabious flower, wild, delicate petals splayed out in a wide spray- but it’s meaning twisted painfully in his gut, like he’d just taken a volleyball to the stomach during practice.
