Summary
Dean sold his soul to save Sam and before he goes to Hell, he wants to give him one last year. Problems arise though as the year goes on, and Dean inches closer to hell.
This story shows Dean's struggle with his Hell date getting closer, Sam getting brother time and not knowing about the tragedy that is about to unfold, and Bobby stands as a support systems for the deteriorating Dean and naive Sam.

Stiles saw the red light, staring ahead as it passed overhead -- and kept going. He didn’t even stop.
He didn’t even flinch.
It felt almost as if he wasn’t truly present in the driver’s seat, instead being somewhere behind the wheel, watching through the windshield as if it were nothing more than a screen. He felt floaty, entirely detached.
He barely registered the speedometer as it climbed, streetlights streaking into lines in his window. He barely registered when red and blue lights joined in the mix behind him, almost blinding in the rearview mirrors as colors blended together.
It was just lights.

Will felt his face pale. "What about your parents?"

March, 22nd 1987
The sound of Wills alarm flooded the room. He didn’t want to open his eyes it was to early, to bright. Today felt like any other boring day that repeated over, and over again, but it wasn’t. It was Wills 16th birthday.
It was to quiet for a birthday morning. Usually his mom would be storming into his room pulling him by the arm to eat the traditional Byers birthday breakfast, instead all he was met with once he went downstairs was a measly little note.
Me and hop went out for a while, there some money on the counter buy a pizza.

Will always saw the good in things, always gave everyone the benefit of the doubt so that exactly what he did this time even though it has becomes increasingly harder to make excuses.
“They will do something later, they always do.” Will says to himself grabbing his backpack and running out the door. He was about to go grab Janes bike too, wait for her to finish getting ready, then he remembered she stayed the night at Mikes, she’s been doing that a lot lately.

Or, Everyone forgot Wills birthday. He becomes depressed and the bullying gets worse.
