Summary
After a private, unexpected summons from the Council, Obi-Wan’s long-held dream of training another Jedi is finally coming true. He has chosen a kind-hearted Initiate, Cal Kestis, as his new Padawan. Yet, the joy of this is immediately overshadowed by the harsh realities of their time. Obi-Wan is faced with the difficult task of protecting a child who, by all accounts, is a child of war. He knows he must fight for Cal's innocence, to shield him from the horrors of the battlefield and the dark complexities of the galaxy, despite the almost impossible odds. In a promise made to Cody, Obi-Wan swears to keep Cal from the political and military burdens of his rank, ensuring that his Padawan remains a Jedi, not a soldier. But in a Galaxy at war, will this peace remain possible?

Summary
Cody has had enough of idiotic nat-born officers who are nothing more than a bunch of whiny morons. And that includes his Jedi General, Qui-Gon Jinn.
Jinn, who has a bad habit of stating he "follows the will of the Force" instead of following the will of the Senate and Council. And honestly, Cody wouldn't mind if following the will of the Force included filling out a requisition form every once in awhile.
But, Cody can handle it. He can adapt to it. He can deal with Qui-Gon Jinn disappearing without a word. He can deal with Tarkin being an asshole. He can deal with it all. And he has been dealing with it all for the past month.
That is, until another wrench is thrown into his carefully constructed battle plans. A wrench that goes by the name Obi-Wan Kenobi. Jinn's padawan is everything Cody hates and more. He doesn't listen. He goes off on his own. And he seems to expect special treatment just because he's a Jedi who killed a sith.
Well, Cody's not going to let him win. He is not going to let Obi-Wan Kenobi use him like all the other nat-born officers use him. And no! He does not think Kenobi is nice to look at. Not one bit. So quit asking.

Summary
It was a joke, perhaps a poorly timed joke on Quinlan's part, but what other type of jokes did he actually have? How was Obi-Wan to know his brand new, doesn't quiet know his and Quinlan's rapport, padawan would over hear said joke.
And take it seriously.
AKA: Quinlan and Obi-Wan joke about having a baby together. Anakin takes it seriously. Cal is just adorable. They may just be able to save the galaxy together.

Dick may not actually be quite as old as he told everyone he was.
In his defense, it wasn't so much lying as that he sort of just forgot.
