    It wasn’t until Durin was standing in front of the bars of the cell that he realized he’d been expecting to find Elrond just the same as he always was. After all, what were a mere few months in a cell to an elf who was more than a thousand years old? Elrond wouldn’t enjoy it, Durin had thought, but there would be no harm done. Not truly.
    He’d thought wrong.

    Or: Elrond isn't banished from Khazad-dûm. It would have been better if he was.

    Then Wrecker was looking at him, kind familiar eyes cold and dead and hard as he felt himself lifted from the floor.
