Summary
His shoes sank into the dewy grass every time he took a step, and then suddenly they didn’t anymore — stone beneath his feet. He was nearly at the Great Hall. He was breathing heavily, and it took every ounce of control to keep his magic from lashing out.
His mind kept skipping from one sound to the next — crickets on the tree he was passing, wind whipping over the hills, snakes gliding through the long grass. It was all so loud. But nothing was as loud as his heel hitting the stone, and his toes lifting from it again. The latter was heavier.
—————
On the last day of summer, Harry receives a letter from Gringotts about his magic. He confronts Dumbledore in the Great Hall. What begins as an argument turns into something far more dangerous — and far more final.
