But when he goes to retrieve her, stubborn eyes look back at him with vital force still intact.“JUN-HO! Get here and help me! He’s still alive!”
*
The Phoenix rises from his ashes, but the road to forgiveness and redemption is a long one.
While being the baby's legal guardian and earning his daughter's forgiveness gives Gi-hun a reason to keep living, two estranged brothers must rekindle their relationship and deal with a seemingly unrequited love for the same man.

Summary
Kara Sevda
[Noun.] Turkish
A blinding, desperate love for another person. A kind of love that makes you sick. Literally translates to "Dark Love"."You did it, hero. You stopped the games. You should be happy."
Gi-hun had won. In-ho has failed to break his spirit. And the more he fails, the more his obsession with the man grows, plunging him into the black ocean of despair. A love that is keeping them both prisoners.
"How long are you going to keep me here?"
"As long as it takes."
Dance me to the children who are asking to be born
Dance me through the curtains that our kisses have outworn
Raise a tent of shelter now, though every thread is torn
Dance me to the end of loveThe song they were dancing to felt like a letter to the future. In-ho knew that whatever they had couldn't last forever. Sooner or later, Gi-hun was going to disentangle himself from his web.
He just wanted to dance with him until the end.

Summary
Slowly, he pushes back the hood of his topcoat and unclips the strap behind his head. Player 456 sits up straighter as he does, watching with intense curiosity and burning hatred. In-ho focuses hard on the man’s face, cataloguing each breath, each microexpression, determined to memorize the look on the man’s face as he reveals his treachery. Once In-ho’s eyes are uncovered, he sees the jolt of understanding hit. He watches, rapt, as a succession of shock, confusion, denial, and finally, fury, crosses the man’s face. In-ho grips the firearm still in his hand and braces again for attack, but the precaution is unnecessary. As quickly as the fury had come, it, too, went, replaced by something like resignation, like defeat. Yes, he thinks, defeat.
In-ho is determined to break player 456 by any means necessary, but as the lines between pain and pleasure begin to blur, so too do the lines between captor and captive.

Summary
Sang-woo started with the most obvious and incomprehensible matter, "Why are there two of you?"
"He must be a fake," the older Gi-hun spat, then sprawled his fingers all over the face of what seemed like his younger self in an attempt to peel the features off. "Get my face off yours."
"Stop it!" His hyung yelled and struggled out of the grip of his other self. Both of them glared at each other, it made a surreal scene - almost similar to looking into a mirror that transcended time and space.
"And there isn't another me?"
The other Gi-hun frowned, the reluctance in his voice carrying the weight of a death sentence.
"Because… You're supposed to be dead."
Even though it aligned with what Sang-woo suspected, he still, with his very bright mind and calm demeanour, could only make out three words in his head. What the fuck.
Cho Sang-woo, Hwang In-ho, and Seong Gi-hun are put into a game together. They are promised 45.6 billion won, no bloodshed, no lives lost. It sounds too good to be true, and it might as well be. Because... The thing is, why are there two Seong Gi-huns in the room?

Summary
“His fingers twitched. He looked down. No blood. No shackles or guards. Just his own hands, unbroken and free. A faint aching knocked at his head, beating like a heart.
Violet, violet, violet. Violet everywhere. That hadn’t changed. The corridors were vacant in front of him, unscathed and removed of any traces of bullet holes.”The rebellion has failed. Jung-bae is gone. Gi-hun, demoralized, beaten down, and likely somewhat sleep-deprived, goes into syncope, where he sees an old friend again.

“You never kill me. I mean— You get close, or tempted to, but you've never once killed me in any version of this. Why is that?”
Inho stared off, not speaking. His jaw clenched, and Gihun knew it meant he was holding back. He'd seen him do it a hundred times, even if Inho would never remember.
“Are you afraid?”
This made him scoff, looking off to the side almost rolling his eyes in disbelief. “I've killed more people than I could count, in my first game and in yours. I've killed my own guards–”
“I wasn't talking about killing.” Gihun stepped closer, looking at him once again. “Are you afraid to lose me, Inho?”

Summary
“Gi-hun,” there was a pressure on his right leg, and Gi-hun’s thoughts came to a frantic, screeching halt. Dread and anticipation beat on his sternum.
“Gi-hun, look at me.” It was a command; it did nothing to quell his fear, but he knew better by now than to disobey a command, and so he lifted his head off of his knees to meet whoever had sat beside him on the bed. His eyes flicked to the green tracksuit; player 120.
***
Gi-hun is returned to the dormitory post-revolution. With no further interference or orders from the staff, he is left to stew in his thoughts-- and the stress of the situation finally catches up to him. Luckily, he's made enough friends to pull him out of the dark corners of his mind.

Summary
“Player 456,” a voice cut through the stillness, sharp and demanding, “What game are you playing now?”
“I’m not playing anything,” he shot back, his tone rife with petulance, as if he really were a rebellious child sulking in his room. “I’m merely contemplating the consequences of my hero game. Isn’t that why you locked me in here? So I could think about what I’ve done?”(Post season 2)
