Summary
My stance on the matter is that A Splendid Match did have a perfect happy ending, one that matches the beginning of the show and the dramatic scale of the last few episodes.
And yet, I do understand the desire for more, for a 'peace after the storm' and 'they lived happily ever after' closure. Since it was not given to us, I wrote one. Be gentle =)

(So this was something that stuck with me from the novel. Gao Tu mentions that he had put together legal papers to protect the child, and I just wanted to flesh out that idea!)

She was not wrong. Otto Hightower spoke against Corlys and Daemon at every turn. He spoke against everyone but his mediocre house. His own trickery would bring his downfall, after all it had been him who suggested to name Rhaenyra heir in his stead. And by doing so he prevented his own grandson from inheriting. It was better that way. For everyone, but Otto and his family. And definitely better for Daemon and his bloodline. Rhaenyra would prove easily manipulated, by him at least. It had always been so, ever since she was a babe. And he could always wed her.
It would be the best match for her, and for him. But his brother would not allow it. Not without some subtle conviction. Luckily for him, his brother was easily manipulated.
"Well, he cannot whisper into his ear any longer, now that he is in Oldtown" Daemon smirked.
Just after the news of the Highwhore birthing a half-breed for his brother, came the news of Otto's exile. He had cackled when he heard of it. It brightened his day.
"Indeed. Though I wonder, who would whisper into his ear now?"
Daemon winked at his cousin, for they both knew the answer.

Queen Aemma Arryn was the first to sicken, seized by a fever so violent that her ladies feared she would be lost before dawn. Before a day had passed the princess was stricken by the very same heat.
For three days and three nights the court was cloaked in terror. The king kept vigil beside his wife and child in turn, unwilling to leave either chamber for long, while the maesters whispered of humors and contagion but found no sure cure. Prayers were spoken at every hour, and more than one lord muttered that House Targaryen’s line stood on the edge of ruin.

What if Jaqen had always been there for Arya? What if he quit the Faceless Men, then found his way to Winterfell as an employee of the Starks? How would that go? What would change? Well, these are the questions I attempt to answer in this new take (for me anyway) on Arya & Jaqen's story. This will start as a platonic relationship between the two, with Jaqen as Arya's sworn sword, employed by Ned to look after his youngest daughter. But it will lead to romance, in later chapters. This is a 'glimpses of time' kind of writing style that I want to play with a bit more deeply for this pairing and fandom. Chapters will be short and flash-fiction/drabble like.

Words overheard in the still of the night in the Hall of Faces. A confession from a girl to her God, Jaqen receives the answers he seeks. Thus begins a game of manipulation and subtle manuovreing. Or so he thinks, but mocking, nasty words later in Highgarden lead him to do something he never thought he would do. And with it comes consequence that, although never intended, happened all the same. Will he and Arya ever be able to recover from this? Or will the burn to cinders? And why is Bran so determined to believe that Jaqen's family name isn't really H'ghar?
