    Summary

Her next stitch drew tighter than it should have. Too much tension.

Before she could correct it, his voice drifted across the table. "Less force."

The words carried the intimacy of a hand resting at the small of her back.

    She looked up, startled.

He wasn't even looking at her; his gaze remained on his own wound, Adson forceps moving steadily across his surgical field without pause.

    "You noticed that?"

    A beat.

Then: "I notice everything you do."

Heat crawled unexpectedly up the back of her neck.

She adjusted the stitch. This time it seated perfectly.

"There," he said. The low single word of approval sent a disproportionate pulse of satisfaction through her.

    Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.

    Summary

“In this life, the next life, and for all lifetimes thereafter, we are already entwined.”

An upcoming exhibition brought a collection of Dayin Empire’s ancient artefacts into Shanghai-based museum curator Fan Chang Yu’s life, but unlike how work has always been, there is an uncanny sense of familiarity surrounding a pair of twin short blades and a Chinese war spear.

Even more unsettling would be the vivid dreams of what appears to be her life in another timeline centuries ago, and a certain man she sees in the fragments of memories…

    Summary

Satoru Gojo, a biomedical engineering major, believes cognition can be reduced to circuits, chemicals, and measurable systems. If you understand the neurons, you understand everything.

Suguru Geto, a psychology major, disagrees. Meaning, context, culture; none of it fits neatly inside a diagram.

An interdisciplinary course on neuroscience and psychology places them in the same lecture hall. University housing places them in the same dorm room. One semester. One space neither of them asked to share.

    neuroplasticity

“Why haven’t we ever done it?” He takes a step closer. It’s an effort to keep your feet planted where they are. You don’t have to ask what he means. You know exactly what he means.

You snort. “I can think of a few reasons.”

“Fair, but they’re not really good reasons, are they?” You can almost hear him smirking, and you have to pretend it doesn’t get to you. “Say what you will about my moral code, but it’s not like it has to mean anything, does it? Not if it’s just you and me.” He’s so close now you can feel the warmth of his breath against your ear through his mask. “Like this.”

You shove him, inevitably breaking. “You’re probably the worst superhero ever.”

You've been tasked by your father to find out the Six-Eyed Spider's secret identity. To your credit, it doesn't take you all that long. It's just such a shame he's exactly your type.
