The night air poured freely through the open doorway, and his cybernetic parts seemed intent on siphoning away whatever heat his body managed to generate naturally. (Seriously, Sarge could figure out how to turn his ass into a fax machine, but he couldn’t give him a regulated body temperature?)
Eventually, however, Grif seemed to be get tired of the sound of Simmons's teeth chattering.
“Dude,” he said, not looking away from the TV, “are you doing Morse code with
your jaw?”“It’s not that bad,” Simmons muttered, tightening his grip on the mug as he burrowed deeper into his blanket nest.
Grif sighed, paused the movie, and turned toward him. “Okay, seriously. I’ve seen people come back from Sidewinder in a better state than this. Just—” He gestured at Simmons vaguely. “Stop being cold.”
“Oh wow, thanks for the advice, Grif. Really groundbreaking stuff.”
“You’re welcome.”
