Summary
The vast darkness of space is all consuming and frightening but nothing was more panic inducing than when Sonic turned and saw Shadow almost hurtling into Earth's atmosphere.
With the last of the emerald's power he flew.
I always see the aftermath of Sonic movie 3 fics but not much of Sonic Adventures 2 ending (barely anything really). So I flew too... to my keyboard.
Where Sonic manages to save Shadow.

Knuckles knew he was a warrior at heart. More battle smart than book smart. Tails is the one with the brains and he wouldn't have it any other way.
So why did he keep it to himself when he figured out there was something going on with his blue best friend and said best friend's black counter part?
No real reason. It was just hilarious.

Summary
It's been 10 years since Sonic last saw Shadow, and in that decade, life had not been kind. He's stumbling through adulthood with no sense of direction or purpose, crumbling under the existential dread of aging, and to top it off, is suffering through an exhausting divorce process. Just as his whole world seems to be collapsing around him, however, an old friend returns... And might just be the lifeline he didn't realise he needed.
Now Sonic is having to navigate adulthood, heartbreak, grief and whatever these new (or maybe old) feelings are for his ex-rival. The strangest part is that Shadow seems to be the stable, emotionally competent one. What he doesn't know is that shadow is hiding a secret of his own- Ten years of feelings that he thought he'd let go of threatening to return.
This is a future-set Sonadow slow -burn where Sonic and Shadow reconnect after a decade of no contact. A mix of hurt/comfort, slice-of-life, humour, drama, fluff and spice (eventually). Themes include grief, romance, friendship, aging panic, unconditional love/care, and a flipped dynamic- Sonic is the one falling apart, and Shadow is the one who’s already healed.

“Huh?” Sonic stammers out.
“Where,” Shadow begins as he slides a little further down onto Sonic’s lap, “Do you want me to touch you, Sonic? ”
And there’s the voice, the tone, he always says Sonic’s name in. The one that continuously pushed him into this feeling in the first place.
