Summary
Mama died today, or maybe yesterday, Severus didn’t know.
Father had left the previous night and he hasn’t come back yet, Severus doubts he will at all. It was just Severus, and mama laying far too still on the bed now. At first he tried shaking her awake, but it quickly became obvious mama wasn’t getting up anymore.
The patch of dirt behind their house was small and hard and full of rocks. He brought a fork with him from the kitchen, and began to dig. It didn’t work very well, the prongs bent and the dirt barely shifted while his hands started to hurt. Forks are not exactly shovel material – perhaps a spoon would have been better.
By the time the short hand of the clock touched 5, a strangely dressed man appeared, frantically yelling and running into Severus’s house.
