Oh.
It’s Grace.
The urge curling under his skin stutters to an abrupt halt as it registers not a threat but a beloved, precious thing. The blood is no longer a thrilling meal but a serious problem. If someone else were around to smell the blood and try to attack their Grace, well, the thing in Simon’s chest shudders at the thought. They cannot allow him to get hurt.

Summary
“Yeah. Nothing beats cuddles, if you ask me,” Grace said, trying to lighten the mood.
Simon’s frown only deepened. “I wouldn’t really know.”
Grace’s smile dropped. He fidgeted with his glasses, an idea already forming, but no. No, that’s a lot to ask. Too much. They’re barely friends. More like roommates of pure circumstance who mostly get along.
But what if…?
“Would you…” Grace started. Stopped. Tried again. “This is like, totally no pressure, and you can say no. But, uh, if you wanted to, we could, um—”
“Spit it out, man,” Simon said, not unkindly, if a little annoyed.
“Wouldyouwanttotrycuddlingwithme?”
Simon blinked. “What?”
Or... against all the odds, Simon finds himself in Ryland Grace's universe. This is how they find home.

Summary
They’re 8 months out from Erid when it happens. The Hail Mary doesn't exactly have any pre-programmed alerts for announcing the approach of what Rocky would later find out is a wormhole, but to her credit, the ship does try her best.
"Approaching anomaly detected."
Suddenly Rocky finds himself in a strange new space. It's much smaller than the Hail Mary, with strange metal walls and no life support. But to his surprise and delight, there's another human here! Only, they don't seem to be in space anymore. And the new human keeps treating Rocky like he's not real, which, rude. And the human seems so sad and scared, it reminds Rocky so much of when Grace admitted that their mission was a one-way trip. In fact, this new human reminds Rocky of Grace in a lot of ways.
Wait, did the human say something about radiation?!
That settles it. Rocky's getting this human out of here and back to Grace. There's no way he's letting anyone else die of radiation. Not on his watch.
He's going to save this human and they're both going to go home. Together.

Summary
“The submarine is pried open like a tin can, leaving him only able to watch in horror as the metal gives, and he knows with startling clarity that this isn’t anything the Blood Ocean could’ve cooked up. In fact it could be far worse.
He doubts the C.O.I would expend themselves rescuing him, and if they were to they may just throw him back at seeing him. He has no choice but to sit, eyes tightly closed like a child hiding to avoid punishment, though he never was good at that on Eden.”
~~~
The process of healing is never linear, and Simon’s even less so. But with Grace's gentleness he finds himself wanting to trust again, to recover in ways he thought he’d never deserve.
AKA. Soft Little Simon and endlessly comforting Caregiver Grace for the soul.
Bookmarker's Notes
“Love you,” Simon speaks into his neck, knowing with certainty down to the very fabric and frays of his soul that this is what he wants, and deeper still, he recognises that this is what he deserves.
Not to be a Brother on Eden, or the Butcher for the Last Tree, nor the Convict in a cell or at the bottom of a blood ocean, just this, held by an Angel. Just Simon, just as he is
Summary
Curled up at the back of the closet, against the wall and very unsuccessfully trying to hide himself behind the edge of a box of hazmat suits, is Simon.
Grace stares. Simon stares back, seemingly frozen. He's sitting on the floor, legs curled up, hand halfway through shielding his face. The lighting isn't great, but his cheeks and eyes shine in a way that clearly show he's been crying. A lot.
"Oh my gosh," Grace starts, panic lurching into sympathy and quickly joined by shock. "Simon?"
***
Simon has barely age regressed before, and never in front of anyone else. But after the events in the SM-13 and while traveling with Grace & Rocky back to Erid, he needs new ways to heal.
Simon shuffles against him, working himself closer, and then he speaks for the first time in a chapter and a half. "Thank you, Mama."
Grace freezes. He stops reading. His entire mind crashes to a halt.
Simon is loose and warm against him, until he tilts back to look at him through dark hair that's fallen into his face. "Was… Was that…" There's a flicker of adult worry in his eyes, blurry and uncomfortable.
