Summary
The Gladers spend weeks in Janson's facility, and to pass the time, Newt, Thomas, and Frypan each take up reading. While Frypan immerses himself in cookbooks every night, Newt discovers his love for novels, and Thomas focuses on learning first aid and medical emergencies.
When Newt is injured during their escape, and Thomas is there to help his newfound knowledge is dearly needed. Could Thomas' growing concern for Newt be the turning point that makes him realize just how much Newt means to him?

“You’re cute,” He giggled, softly touching his nose.
“Tommy, I really think you should sleep,”
“Nah,” Thomas scooted closer, close enough to rest his head on Newt’s chest, which was exactly what he did. “You smell really good,” He mumbled into his shirt.
“Thanks,” Newt huffed amusedly.
“You’re my best friend, you know that?” Thomas asked.
“I- you're mine too,”
Sensing the hurt in his voice, Thomas lifted his head, moving closer, entwining their hands.
“Are you okay?” He asked softly “You sound sad,”
“I'm not,” he denied.
“Are you sure?” He pouted.
“Yes, I'm very sure, love,” Newt exhaled, and god if that didn't send butterflies soaring through his stomach, Thomas wasn't sure what would.
“Say that again,” he whispered.
Newt frowned. “I'm very sure?” He asked.
“No, not that,” Thomas shook his head.
Realization dawned in Newt’s eyes as he turned his head and whispered, “I'm sure, love,”
