"It was common knowledge by now that at birth, a mark would be placed upon the skin of every child that would dictate their partner in life.
It began in the late 1800s—or at least, that was when documents discussing it were first discovered—and it wasn't uncommon to find that a bond had been broken. For the most part, this was due to the untimely death of one half, often before they had even crossed paths; an outcome that seemed, in some inexplicable way, even more tragic than meeting and losing each other afterward.
But other times, a bond was broken because of the rejection of the other half. If this happened, it was said to be a pain that was unimaginable and many would prefer to have had their bond broken through death than through the emotional torture it brought."

Summary
Officer Keiji Akashi is a Police officer who was sent on a three-year undercover mission to infiltrate a prostitution ring. He had everything finalized, three years of work was finally going to come to fruition. However, his plan is ruined by one, over-eager Newby, Officer Bokuto Koutarou who saw that a girl was being tugged unwillingly into a strip club.
"Officer Bokuto." Akaashi nodded, acknowledging his presence as he took a drag, "How do you think tonight went?"
Bokuto hung his head, "Um... I suppose not well because, because you know-" he didn't know how to finish that sentence.
"you ruined my three-year mission" Akaashi supplied
"Yeah, that." They stood in a moment of silence.
"You did good today Bokuto. I don't know many people who would enter a strip club in this area to make sure a girl is safe." Akaashi pushed off the wall, and dropped his cigarette in the outdoor ashtray, and turned around. The sight of the raven-haired man backlit by the police siren light stilled Bokuto's breath. Akaashi's eyes seemed to see everything, scanning him up and down as if he was hoping to find something he hadn't seen before. "See you around, Partner."

"You haven't actually gotten serious, yet, have you Sakusa-san", Kageyama asked sounding genuinely curious and weirdly polite. His expression was still blank. It was starting to become unnerving. Why couldn't he read him? And what does he even mean by that?
"What makes you say that?", Sakusa, who must have been thinking the same as Atsumu, asked eerily. Atsumu didn't miss Komoris stunned expression. He most certainly was dreading this. He hates confrontation and making enemies with one of the top setters their age on his first day wasn't really something he planned on doing here. Even Hoshiumi has stopped laughing and is currently watching with curiosity.
"I mean you are way more normal then what I would imagine you would be like, so far.", he added. No malice behind his words. And yet, the words cut deep. Even the guy sitting next to Kageyama seemed to be in complete shock. For a second they froze. What just happened? Had he really just called a top three spiker average?
or: Kageyama is not as brooding and emotionless as he appears to be. Atsumu is trying to figure him out and when he does he is not sure if he wants to ever let him go.
