Simon glares viciously at the poor excuse of a knot. It’s not the boot’s fault, he knows that. He’s glaring because he has no other option than the one currently at his disposal, and it’s an option he despises with every piece of his wretched heart. But the sun is climbing higher and he needs to get outside to check on the garden. He grits his teeth and forces the words out.
“Can you…help me with something?”

Summary
After how poorly their first attempt at gaining samples from Tau Ceti E went, Doctor Ryland Grace has very little hope of pulling anything from the murky surface a second time around- Certainly not a blood-filled, poorly cobbled together submarine that then proceeds to slam into the Hail Mary at full speed and compromise the hull.
And definitely not one containing a living human being.Well... as loosely as you can use the word living, or human, for that matter. He wonders just how far that line blurs out here in this wild expanse of space- all while a single silver-ringed iris lights up the darkened medical bay.

Summary
Grace's favorite book is Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, and he finds himself returning to a certain quote. “Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.” In context, it makes a lot more sense, but it boils down to this: the universe is so massive that the chance of even bumping into a piece of debris out there, let alone another spaceship, is almost entirely impossible.
“So,” he thinks aloud, “how in the heck is there another craft out there?”
aka Grace and Rocky pick up Simon on their way back from planet Adrian, and they try to live, because what else can they do?

Summary
An Eridian mining crew find a human welded into a stranded ship on the surface of a moon. They bring him back to Erid, to the only other human they know.
Something in Grace's chest flickered into life. He had buried it so long ago that he hardly knew what it was anymore, and so he took off his glasses and cleaned them on the edge of his cardigan, as if Rocky's words were a smudge he could clear away before finding the will to hope.
“Ah…” his words failed halfway out of his mouth. Rocky chittered at him, a little sound of encouragement. “There’s another human? Here. And… alive?”
