Summary
Cal never thought that memorizing the entire history of his people would be important. After all, the Eternal Song was just something he recited during repetitive katas, or boring patrols, or to calm himself down after psychometric attacks. It ends up being so, so important for the preservation of Jedi history and culture.

"Did that guy actually just kill a stormtrooper using a lightsaber or should we be worried about our cargo having hallucinogens tucked beneath these thermal detonators?"
"Yeah," Kanan grumbled. "He's an imbecile. Always has been."
Hera felt her brow twist in confusion to his response. Honestly, she'd just been expecting him to acknowledge that he knew what a lightsaber looked like—there were enough people in the Galaxy that had never seen a Jedi that he could have easily pretended not to know what she was talking about. She wasn't expecting him to both acknowledge the weapon that the red headed man was wielding and being familiar with the man who clearly didn't get the memo that the Empire was paying a rather large price for Jedi these days, both dead and alive.
"Wait, you know him?" she hissed, now almost certain that there was some sort of aerosolized spice in the crates that she shuffled through, because there's no way that Kanan was giving up this much of his past in a matter of just a few minutes. Not when they'd been together for over a year and he hadn't even uttered a word of it.
