“You bring the worst out of me, Dean. The parts of myself that I hate to look at every day. You are my hateful reminder, the little devil on my shoulder haunting my every move. You made me think having a crush on some guy made me an evil fucking bitch! That I put a target on our backs because I’m not fucking—“
Dean crossed the room in two large, gaping pounds. His large hands spun Castiel on his heel, and grasped either side of his face.
Their lips collided, Cas’ hands frantically squirming while Dean deepened the kiss, pressing his girth between Cas’ legs. Electricity thundered down his spine, and he shoved Dean’s face away.“Wait! Dean what the FUCK?! Why are you—“
Dean gripped his face again, “Stop talking,” he rumbled, his bottom jaw quaking with need. His cheeks were flushed red, pupils blown wide. Swallowing the forest green irises Cas stared into intensely.
When the second kiss came, Castiel gladly opened his mouth, allowing Dean’s tongue to glide inside.

As they settled into their new life, a stranger knocked on their door of their home in Oahu. A beautiful man in full dress uniform stood on the porch. “My name is Captain Dean Winchester.” Castiel recognized the name from Jimmy’s letters. Jimmy had called Dean Winchester his best friend.
Dean and Jimmy had a pact. If one died while in the Middle East, the other would deliver special letters and mementos to the other’s family. Dean was fulfilling his promise. Dean didn’t expect to fall for Jimmy’s brother, but he had to stay and make sure Jimmy’s son knew how brave his father was. Dean served his stint in the Army and now a civilian. Castiel’s home in Hawaii was a paradise. Beaches, crystal clear water and it seemed like a good place to settle until he decided what to do with the rest of his life. He’d get a job and see how things went.

Summary
There is a race that takes place every year in Alaska called the Iditarod, a thousand mile journey across the Alaskan wilderness by dog sled team that has come to be known as "The Last Great Race on Earth”. It is a test of endurance, of the relationship between dogs and their people, traversing mountain ranges, frozen rivers, forest and tundra.
When writer Castiel Milton is forced to spend two and a half months in Alaska at Winchester Kennels to cover the race preparations and the Iditarod itself, the only person more dismayed than he is Dean Winchester, one of his hosts. Castiel views his assignment as a punishment and is less than impressed by his surly host, and Dean distrusts the sheltered city-born writer who has invaded their home and their lives. But soon, as the Winchesters prepare for their race and Castiel learns about sled dogs and what a musher’s lifestyle is all about, they forget to hate each other and their relationship evolves into something neither of them expected.

Dean Winchester is heading back to Hogwarts for his final year. He's the newly assigned Head Boy, alongside his best friends Charlie, Cas, and Benny. This ought to be the best year of their lives as they go through the final stages of school together.
So why does it feel like the beginning of the end? Why does it feel like Dean's best friend, Castiel, has started making all the wrong choices? Why does it feel like Castiel has completely changed?
Dark times are ahead. Dean can feel it. He can only hope that by the end of the year he hasn't lost everyone he's cared about - most importantly, Cas. He hopes he will never lose Cas.

However, it only takes one night for seventeen years of friendship to all come crashing down. When Castiel confesses his feelings for Dean, his friend’s rancorous reaction sends him packing. Castiel leaves, and stays away for ten years.
When Dean’s father John falls ill, Castiel begrudgingly visits the farm again for the first time in a decade. Castiel is nervous to relive that night. He is nervous to be back at a place that holds so many memories. He is nervous to see Dean for the first time in so long.
While he grapples with his anger and hurt, he also has to grapple with the fact that the feelings he holds for Dean may still be there after all this time.

For First Lieutenant Novak, this is less than helpful, as he has so far met his platoon’s designated medic a grand total of twice, and has both times found Sergeant Winchester to be the optimum combination of reckless, arrogant, and downright insufferable so as to make cohesive platoon function near impossible.
