But instead of her receiving an equally as harsh tone back, Luis simply curled his lips upward. It was a smile that made her so pathetically entranced, she couldn’t seem to deter her gaze.

And it is. Hogwarts is not forever. The cruel people he’ll meet and have met here are not forever. Being sixteen is not forever. But who he is, who he’s always been, is.
“Yours,” James says, giving Regulus’ hand a quick squeeze.
Or: Snape is an asshole and outs Regulus as trans to the whole school and in front of one James Potter, who Regulus has liked since third year. Rather than James being disgusted, like Regulus assumed he would be, Regulus realizes he and James are more alike than he thought, gender identity and feelings wise.
