Который год подряд Джордж был вынужден сталкиваться со слухами касательно перехода Макса в ряды Мерседес. Те накапливались, клубились, а с тем обрушивались на него лавиной вопросов, горячих обсуждений, глупых расследований и невыносимых шуток. Какое-то время удавалось держать всё под контролем, сохранять место и продлевать контракт. Но всему был предел. К завершению сезона 26-го года, слухи, которых опасались и жаждали, наконец подтвердились.
А Джордж Расселл оказался на распутье.

George Russell does not have ballast. George Russell has the opposite of ballast, whatever that is. Something pulling upward instead of down, something that makes a man reach for a drink that's mostly ice water and perform laughter for an audience that isn't paying close enough attention to notice it's a performance. By all available metrics, George Russell should be the happiest person in this room.
But Max notices. It's his least useful quality and he can't seem to stop.

“Oh, here we go, the great Max Verstappen is about to enlighten us on why he thinks adding ‘George Russell moving to Red Bull’ rumors to the list of things I have to deal with right now was a good idea,” his voice was dripping with sarcasm and something borderline dangerous, as if the mere idea of that statement pained him.
Or alternatively, Max wanted to get George to fight for himself after the bullshit Mercedes pulled with his five-second penalty, but he might have gone at it in the wrong way.

Summary
George pauses when he notices his hips.
He winces at the sight.
The heat from the shower had melted into the old scars. The calloused patches burn against the paleness of his usually unexposed skin, presenting an alarming contrast. Angry red lines mark his hipbones. They look like a particularly nasty rope burn—one that tore open flesh. He runs his hands over the uneven texture.
George scrubs harder, bruisingly.
For a second, hysterically, he thinks of Toto Wolff.
He presses the pads of his fingers into the area. It’s as if he clawed hard enough, he could erase the marks from his body. He knows it’s silly. Regardless, he still tries. On bad days, George tries until the blood coagulates under his nails.
OR
Max to Mercedes is announced during summer break. George is left rotting in a team that has already forsaken him for the rest of the season. He can only crawl back to Williams, utterly abandoned by Toto, but still desperate to prove himself to the older man. He finds unlikely solace in someone he should hate the most…
