“Wow, good to hear you too.” Cassian's joke fell flatter than he expected. "It's just... You never replied. I needed to check if-”
“I'm busy,” Nesta clipped. "I'm at my sisters'.”
“Right. I figured. I don't know what I was thinking.” A pause. “I just... I’m leaving tomorrow. And it feels like we left things unfinished.”
“We left things fine.”
“We did?” He cleared his throat. “It doesn't feel fine.”
Silence stretched again. Nesta pressed her shoulder against the wall, staring at nothing.

Nesta Archeron returns home after a decade away from her sisters. When she unexpectedly meets Major Cassian Whakatāne, their paths keep crossing.
