For a moment, Flame has this utterly lost expression on his face, like a duckling separated from its mama in a too-big lake. He’s never had to care for something so little, so delicate, so precious. Not like Lomedy, who’s well-practiced in the art of being kind and caring and gentle. No, Flame’s brutal and quick; he’s a killer. Not like Lomedy, who showers a pinch of fertilizer on each plant like rain and sends them off with good wishes and prayers. No, Flame drops fertilizer and walks to the next, leaving the plant in somehow-awkward silence. Like it was the good, the right thing to talk to it.
Crazy, Flame thinks, but the next time he drops fertilizer on a tiny green seedling he’s more gentle, whispers a good luck to it under his breath.

There was no JamatoP in his perfect world, much less one standing behind his back, where he couldn't see when he was about to push him into the void. Although, a part of himself had been waiting for it to happen; to test how far his enemy would go just to get rid of him. A testament on whether they truly were an equal match.

The one standing over Spoke was Jumper. Her smile was a little bit crooked and somewhat dishonest. An olive branch with little conviction behind it. But it was there, and that meant more than he could express with words. And that wasn’t all her attempt at reaching out amounted to, either. She gestured toward the blanket and pillow that she’d arranged as best as she could into a round pile. “I made us a nest” she offered.
Mapicc was already in it, rearranging whatever he could get his hands on to make it fit his standards better. He was purring in a way he hadn’t done since they’d taken down the Mafia. And, once he felt them looking, he met their eyes with an expression full of glee, his tail swishing excitedly behind him, and his horns burning already with anticipation. Demons were, for the most part, big on physical affection, but he’d always been rather excessive about it even by his species’ standards.
