Summary
The trial of Eva Tsunaka for the murder of Wolfgang Akire is over. Yet, due to recklessness that lies solely upon Damon's shoulders, she has left him with a curse. Or so everyone seems to see, except for himself.
The killing game halts for no one, however. As tensions around the remaining students rise and Tozu continues to carry out what began, Damon wonders if he'll be allowed to live at all. Or if he's doomed to become a monster, all because of the death of someone that never cared for him at all.

“I dunno,” Kai says, twisting his earring. “Nineteen is kind of a big deal. Like, you’re really not a kid anymore.”
Damon thinks it’s been a while since he was a kid. First he won the national competition that meant he would never do anything again but sit and study and beat information into his head; and then the death knell of his youth came, just on time, when they pulled him out of the killing game alive and told him it was all nothing but a bad dream. “I guess,” he says anyway, “it’s a little weird.”

Damon could barely keep his eyes open. He would shield himself from the nothingness if he had the strength to move from where he stood. On what? Was there even a floor here? Where was here? He still hadn't figured that out.
Everything's a blur, just lumps of colors behind his eyelids, distant voices, and a dull ache in his stomach. Damon's tongue darted out over his bottom lip, but his mouth had gone completely sour, deprived of any moisture.
He… what was he doing?
'I died.'
It's a bitter, dreadful whisper in the back of his mind, one that's all too familiar.
'I died again.'

Or: Damon's stuck in a time loop, forced to relive the killing game over and over again. He's tried everything to end it, but now there's only one possible solution left: keep everyone alive long enough to escape. Right. Sure.
