Good to— good to meet you— oh dear. Or I certainly— I certainly hope it’s good to meet you. Hello there, fellow— fellow borrower, yes. Hello.” He’s breathing hard, black eyes glittering with terror, fixated very intensely on Cub. His voice becomes still more trembly and quiet and high-pitched as he goes on, “You’re not the territorial sort, are you? Please say no.”

Summary
They are screaming. They are screaming and Xelqua is running. His eyes dart from place to place, searching the towers and palaces for them, praying to gods that he knows do not exist that they won't find him before he has the chance to escape.
He skids to a stop in front of a small alcove, the place where their eyes would often glance over without registering. He crawls behind the purple tapestry that conceals it, curls himself into a ball, and does his best not to hesitate as he pulls open lists and lists of code. He fails, his hands lingering over the lines, already searing hot without his fingers mixing with it.
Another scream shakes the walls, and Xelqua no longer has the option to wait.

Summary
When Scar has not eaten (human flesh) in a while, his instincts start to control him.
When this happens it's really hard for him to communicate because his body can only seem to make vex noises.
Grian told him he could have a bite or two whenever he needs it. as long as he keeps it above his belt, and if Grian tells him to stop. He needs to.

He’ll never admit it, but he loves curling up on top of the vex hybrid, draping his red, yellow, blue wings over the two of them, and soaking up Scar’s warmth.
He is certainly not expecting it when Scar grabs his upper arms, flipping him over onto his back in a mess of multi courlored feathers.
Grian looks in Scar’s eyes, and all he can see in the now gray-blue iris is hunger.

“You know how as a Vex I need to eat human flesh, and I usually am fine for about a month after a proper feast?” Scar asks.

Grian’s head twisted harshly towards the brunette, something he shouldn’t have done considering how hurt he is, blood was still pouring from the wound Scar created just minutes ago. The blood loss made him slightly light headed.
”You are not a monster.” The pesky birds eyes dug into Scars tillted head. ”Don’t you dare call yourself that.”
With clenched fists and teary eyes he looked up, his and Grians eyes met for a moment but Scar couldn’t keep eye contact. Ashamed he looked at the bone deep bite marks on Grian’s leg as blood dripped down from the corner of his mouth.

Cuteguy didn’t move.
“Uhh…Cuteguy?” Scar nudged her lightly with his fist. “Is this a trick? Because I’ll have you know I am not falling for it.”
Cuteguy still didn’t move.
“Hello?” Scar scooted around to the front of him, where his face was planted into the sidewalk. “It wasn’t that bad of a fall, was it?”
Then Cuteguy…chirped. Like a bird. That was the best way to describe the sound muffled by the pavement. Scar blinked in surprise, then hesitantly reached out and lifted the vigilante’s chin so that he could see her face.

He was scraped up all over, now that Scar was really paying attention: his face and arms and legs were torn, clothes tattered like he’d dived right through a rosebush. He was trembling. “I’m– I’m resting for a brief moment, nothing else. I’ll be out of your hair in the morning, I’ll make that a promise, and the next time I come by, I’ll bring you a dead mouse to repay you, or a live mouse, or I’ll just, I’ll owe you, I don’t know–”
“I mean, sure, if you say so,” Scar agreed, and Grian cut off, shrinking away. Scar’s heart twisted. “A dead mouse, a live mouse, an unspecified IOU to be collected at a later date, all of these currencies and more are accepted here at Trader Scar’s. We have a very strict non-discrimination policy, I’ll have you know. Very strict.”
Grian blinked at him and unfurled the slightest bit. His bad wing– and it was a bad wing, Scar could tell, a very injured wing indeed– tucked in, wound weeping sluggishly onto the basement’s concrete windowsill. Scar had to take a second to reinforce his smile, gentling his whole demeanor so Grian would stop looking at him like that.

He’d been used to struggling to avoid Hawkeye, who popped up whenever Grian least wanted to see him and had always been stupidly hard to shake off, worse once they got to know each other’s patterns, but when it came to Scar– well, but of course Scar would be the same way–
“You can see him under the exit sign,” Mumbo elaborated, stiffening with concern as Grian stood up, “and oh, hang on, you are not actually leaving me. I thought you said whatever it is wasn’t a big deal!”
“It’s not,” Grian lied. He stood up and gathered his papers in their complementary folder, smooth and calm and definitely not fighting a lump in his throat.
