Summary
Zoey turns in Mira's giant bed, now occupied by only her, and a quiet pang grips at her heart, so subtle she brushes it off at first. Out of the three of them, she is the one who sleeps the most, she knows that. Even so, Rumi and Mira very often just cuddle up, speaking in hushed tones, until Zoey is pulled from her slumber.
Occasionally, when she takes too long to wake up, they head to the kitchen to start breakfast so there's food when Zoey inevitably wakes up starving. She loves that they know her so well.
Today, though, waking up alone in this huge bed stings a little more than normal. It's a weird feeling, quiet and uncomfortable, something she can't quite grasp or describe.

Or, Zoey wakes up feeling a little off. The more she pushes it away and tries to control it, the more it controls her until she can't hold it in anymore. But don't worry, her girlfriends are there to hold her through it. (It's just me projecting my feelings onto Zoey yay)

Mira remembers how Zoey’s hand feels in her own. She remembers how Zoey’s fingers fidget, wiggling between hers or playing with her knuckles when she’s nervous. Mira remembers how Zoey’s shoulders drop when she kisses the back of her hand in earnest.
Mira knows Zoey is made of everything good in this world. She’s a mix of dandelions, the evening breeze, and fluffy clouds in the sky.
There are other things about Zoey that Mira could never forget, even if she tries.
The mischievous grin on her face as they run toward a demon fight.
The sound of her shin-kals whizzing through the air, striking true.
Her agonizing scream when a demon sinks its claws into her chest.
(It’s enough to drive Mira into madness.)
The horrid slap of flesh and bone on concrete when Zoey collapses.
(It echoes through Mira’s mind no matter how many times she wishes she could forget.)

Summary
As part of the Interspecies Cultural Exchange program, lamia Mira has never been happier to get away from her controlling mother and ridiculous tribal customs to life a new life in the human world. Her host family being nepo-baby Ryu Rumi, daughter of the legendary idol Ryu Mi-yeong, and her girlfriend rap sensation Zoey Maxwell-Choi, has only been a boon to Mira's wish to slither forward and never look back.
There is just one downside to this arrangement, though. Winter in Seoul gets cold, and Mira does not like being cold. How fortunate then that as soon as Rumi and Zoey get home, they're happy to help her warm up.
