This is the peak of literature. This is what a/b/o trope was meant to be. A secondary gender into a reality akin to ours. I love the ship so much. I cherish each chapters like scripture. I don’t believe in God, but I believe in this.
THIS is the Bible to my religion. THIS are the verses my soul yearned for. THIS is what I needed. Turmoil so poignant, this emotional pain so violent, a story that mad me read lines after lines at the bottom of my screen. There isn’t enough praise in this world to make a sliver a justice to this fic. I’m trying to be poetic and all that but YALL SHOULD READ THIS. THIS BANGS. THIS ROCKS. THIS IS THE SHIT.

Ruben only agreed to drive Niall north because it was supposed to be simple: one night in Ruben grandmother’s old house, a few boxes of photo albums, then home before the snow got worse.
But the snow keeps falling. The road disappears. The house is colder than expected, the fire refuses to behave, and Niall keeps looking at Ruben like he has found something worth keeping.
Ruben can handle the weather. He can handle the axe, the dark, the silence, and the old memories waiting inside the walls.
He cannot handle Niall leaving for college.

The bow is not tied, but the ruban is beautiful. An open ending of comforting hope, offering a future that much brighter to these characters (their younger selves at least). I recommend this above all of life sustaining activities, as one can’t fully experience them without reading this.
