Project Hail Mary x His Dark Materials au basically. very strong on the au there, this thing is probably going to go a little crazy. Might change rating / warnings if the "action" parts get a bit much, but it's basically just going to be canon-typical stuff.

Summary
It took 18 months for Colt to almost get back to how he was before the accident. 18 months is quite a long time to be alone while healing from a near fatal injury. Good thing he has a brother living about 6 hours away that can help him out in the meantime.
aka I’ve seen like a million stories about Colt reacting to Grace’s incident, but like a, barely anything about Grace reacting to Colt’s incident. Unacceptable to me.

Shadows are always present. Even when the sun is high and bright, the shadows are there. When it's dark, the shadows only grow stronger.
Skrimm feels as if a second shadow has been following his every move for years. Never too far and bringing a chill into the air.
