Summary
“You are an asshole”, Tim tells him blandly, giving up all hope that remained for his brain-to-mouth filter.
“That’s possible.” Jason grins. “But at least I’m an asshole passing my courses.”
_________________Because vigilantism is not an acceptable excuse for failing school, Tim gets assigned mandatory tutoring with scholarship student Jason Todd, who hides secrets Tim is dead set on uncovering. Meanwhile, at night, Tim, Dick, and Bruce are hunting down the new Crime Lord Red Hood, who has brutally taken over Crime Alley.

Summary
Bruce forbade eating in the cave after nine-year-old Dick smeared porridge over the Batcomputer’s keyboard, but that rule never did apply to Jason. “He needs to know he has unlimited access to food”, Bruce had stressed when Dick had complained, like an asshole. Like he didn’t know the kid starved on the streets for years before meeting Bruce. Like Dick’s teenage angst was more important than Jason’s knowledge that he was finally safe. (Or supposed to be. The food did not save his life, in the end. He did not feel safe enough to stay, and whose fault was that, if not theirs?)
_________________While Steph investigates the mysterious death of Jason Todd, the rest of the family is confronted with hauntingly realistic hallucinations of what could have been.

Summary
“The moon is made of Swiss cheese”, Jason deadpans and for a moment he forgets to be hurt and emo in favor of throwing Dick a look so judgy it almost burns.
Despite himself, Dick’s lips twitch. “Gouda?”
The kid scrunches his nose. “Swiss, you imbecile. Gouda is Dutch. I was thinking Appenzeller for the moon.”
“Isn’t that a dog?”
_________________Dick had a total of four conversations with Bruce’s new kid, when Jason Todd appears on his doorsteps and demands a sleepover. What follows, is the most emotionally tumultuous night of Dick’s life, a lot of card games, good food, and the realization that maybe being a brother isn’t as bad as Dick thought it would be.

Summary
“Bruce”, he says, enunciated carefully to not swallow the vowels. He has to sound that way, fine, to not betray his lie immediately. Though the pale face, the bloodied sweater and the sweaty hair sticking to his temples kinda give it away anyways. “I’m fine.”
“Be quiet, Jason”, Bruce says. Jason. Not Jace. Not Jay. Especially not Jaylad.
Jason’s fucked.
_________________Jason hasn’t lived with Bruce for long, but he knows how this dynamic works - it’s a simple exchange. Bruce signs him into Gotham Academy. Jason studies before and after patrol and aces every test. Bruce feeds him three meals a day. Jason washes the dishes. Bruce gives him Robin’s colors to wear. Jason trains until his muscles burn and he feels like he’s going to puke. But when Jason wakes up one day with a fever, he’s well aware he has to hide that weakness before Bruce notices he’s unable to keep up his end of the deal anymore and throws him out on the streets again.

Summary
“Stop trying to make sense of me”, Jason teases, voice light. “You’re living in a world with aliens and magic, sentient hallucinations should not confuse you this much.”

Even after the harrowing escape from Black Mask, he sticks around and while she appreciates his presence, Steph starts to lose grasp of what is reality and what is her own descend into madness.

Summary
When Jason stays frozen, Bruce breaches the air with, “Dick contacted you. I don’t think you would have given your location without asking why he needs it. You knew I would be here.”
“Hm. But I’m starting to regret that I agreed anyway. You think you’re smart, involving him,” his smile is sharp as he continues, “Don’t think I will let this slide.”
Wouldn’t imagine it.

Summary
During her time as Robin, the 2nd Robin was always a cautionary tale. During her time as Spoiler, Red Hood was a ghost story at the periphery of the Bats. It's not until they're both in Star City for college that Stephanie Brown finally meets Jason Todd.

Summary
Jason wished he could shrink into the couch. He wanted to deflect. He wanted to make a joke, to change the subject. But the words were burning a hole in his chest and needed out. Had been burning since his English teacher had told him he could go anywhere he wanted.
If he couldn’t say it to Dick now, he couldn’t say it to anyone else.
“I heard back from Princeton,” he said.
In which Jason gets his college acceptance letters. It’s not a big deal. No, really, it isn’t.

Summary
Somewhere in the garage, Jason squeaks to a stop again, but this time, there’s no shouted exclamations, and the footsteps don’t start again. Dick furrows his brow. It sounds like he stopped near the Japanese cars, and Dick can’t even remember what’s over there. He picks up his pace from where he had been meandering through the garage and beelines to where he thinks Jason is, the sudden silence unnerving him. God, what if something’s wrong, what if—
Jason is standing, arms frozen at his sides, breath shallow, jaw clenched tight, eyes the size of dinner plates. When Dick sees what he’s staring at, he can’t help the smirk. Jason turns his whole head to look at Dick and says, in a near whisper: “is that a Supra?”
“Yeah,” says Dick, “that’s the Supra.”
OR
Bruce requests that Dick try to bond with Jason before the adoption and leaves zero instructions on how to do that. Dick improvises.
