Summary
Shane wants to figure out if he's gay before he gets drafted—and no, the way he felt when Ilya Rozanov smirked at him with a cigarette between his lips in Saskatchewan has nothing to do with it. Unfortunately, the random guy he hooks up with to try and make sure one way or another takes a picture, and Shane gets outed before the draft. In the ensuing scandal, he goes seventh overall, to Ottawa.
It turns out, having the worst thing you can think of happen to you when you're seventeen years old can end up being pretty liberating. And land you an unexpected best friend.

Summary
Ilya came home from Russia with his father buried and a terrible truth lodged like a piece of glass in his throat. He loves Shane Hollander. He can never have him. Not without making Shane sacrifice something big— too big to give up for the paltry offering of himself in return.
He plays the game with a lump in his stomach, heavy guilt warring with his heart’s anxious flutter every time Shane looks at him. Something fundamental has shifted between them. He’s not sure if it’s been this way since Shane came out to him in Tampa, and held him tight like he was trying to keep Ilya in one piece as he was shattering apart. Or maybe it was that phone call, Ilya shivering on the cold streets of Moscow, a frayed nerve, spilling his guts out on the sidewalk.
Either way, Ilya is going to end it. He has to end it.

AU in which Shane doesn't get a concussion and he and Ilya meet as planned. Ilya, deluded by his own self-loathing, attempts to break up with Shane, for the sake of their careers. But he finds that's easier said than done.

"'Ilya,' Shane says then, having decided right then and there, 'Will you come to my cottage? Maybe just for your recovery, or maybe longer?'
Ilya pulls back and looks up at him with wide, watery eyes, 'You want me there?'
Ilya’s voice is soft with hope, and Shane would do anything to protect each and every tender emotion in Ilya’s heart.
'Yeah, I can’t think of anyone else I’d want to spend my summer with.'

'Okay, you win,' Ilya says, his good hand coming up to cradle the side of Shane’s face, his thumb stroking along the freckles on the tops of his cheeks, 'I will come to the cottage.'
Shane’s resolve cracks and finally gives way, his elation is a flood washing away the usual scaffolding of his anxiety. Uninhibited, he leans in close to Ilya until their noses brush, with every intention to kiss him, memories be damned, they can make new ones."

AU in which instead of Marlow hitting Shane, it's Drapeau who hits Ilya, fracturing his collarbone, and giving him a concussion which causes him to forget everything since the draft. Luckily, Shane has the perfect place for him to heal, and hopefully recover his lost memories. Only the most precious ones, of course.

Summary
He figures Ilya would be pretty surprised if he showed up to his house out of the blue. Surprised enough to be put off, probably. Shane is way too bad of a liar to think of any plausible excuse. If this is really happening, if Shane is actually by some miracle getting another shot at this, then he’s going to have to play this smart. His impatience to see Ilya again will have to be tempered. He’s not sure how time travel works, but he has the sneaking suspicion that one wrong move could unravel everything.
Ilya is alive.
Just the thought of it is enough to make Shane crack his first smile in a year.

AU in which Ilya dies in the Centaurs' plane crash. A year later, careless with grief, Shane drives his car into a blizzard and wakes up in Boston, in 2016. When faced with the opportunity to do it right this time, and keep Ilya for good, Shane knows that every decision he makes will be crucial. It's terrifying, but Ilya once told him that he's brave. Now it's up to Shane to prove it.
