"Fuck Spiky, I can't- I can't take your confession. I won't. You have got to be the purest thing on this god forsaken planet. What could you possibly have to confess to?" His voice sounded strained as he murmured the last part almost to himself, "And don't say it like that, it's weird."
"I'm not actually a preacher, Vash." Vash visibly brightened at that. "I thought you knew that by now."
"Well, I do now." He said with a small laugh. Maybe he wasn't going to hell after all! But he had already wagered this much, Vash figured he may as well go all in at this point. "But it doesn't change the fact that I still have a confession. Will you hear it, Nick?"
Wolfwood sighed in defeat; trying to ignore the thrill he felt when Vash used his given name. "Okay. Alright, fine. I'll play along. Just... don't be so formal about it. Fuck. It's just you and me, Spiky. Okay?"
"I'm sorry, Daddy... I've been bad?"

When Livio had burst into their apartment last week, frantic and out of breath, Nick had immediately assumed the worst. They hadn’t been in the city long enough to stir up trouble, but old habits die hard. Even knowing that The Church and The Eye were no more, it was still sometimes hard to relax and let their guard down. It had taken several agonizing minutes before his brother had been able to calm himself enough to gasp out a single, heart-stopping name. One that Nick hadn’t heard spoken yet in this lifetime.

Summary
Vash leaves in the middle of the night, leaving nothing but a cryptic note in his place. Wolfwood, hurt and confused, tracks him down and confronts him. When he finds him, Vash is upset that he's been found, but when he explains why he left without a word, Wolfwood can't help the arousing interest it peaks in his chest.
Maybe he was biting off more than he could chew, but he'd rather choke on it that pass up this opportunity.
