Where Lan Wangji is ordered to take on a concubine to produce heirs. He does so but in Lan Wangji fashion everyone regrets making him do so and letting him choose.
Wei Wuxian is definitely the principal wife in every way but officially.
Where the sects imploded rather than ended up in outright war, there might be less large scale death but that doesn't mean it isn't messy.

Lan Wangji stares at him. Then, slowly, he uncurls his fingers, tugs out a piece from the pile on his palm.
“Lan Zhan,” he reads, voice in a dry monotone. “I think you’d look pretty if you smiled.”
A second piece. “Lan Zhan. Let’s be friends.”
Another. “Lan Zhan.” He pauses, then shuddering as if he’s in mortal agony, “Hearts. Just, hearts.”...
“So,” Wei Wuxian says, drawing his eyes wide. “Are we friends yet?”

Shang Qinghua really didn't mean to keep spending so much time with Shen Qingqiu, but they did need to figure out how they were going to change the plot without any systems to boss them around so it made for a really good excuse.
Reason! Not an excuse! A really good reason! Because there was nothing that he needed an excuse for seeing Cucumber-bro for other than the actual plot focused reason for their meetings!
He definitely did not have a crush.
