Summary
Mob, who finds himself still alive as a human, feels such guilt and emptiness he couldn't help but return to the arms of a being who loved him more than anything. Even when it was unhealthy, even when it was making his fragile state worse, and even when he was crossing lines he never should've crossed with a yellow ball AI.
NOTE: Obviously, this is the Mob character and not the real person. Just wanted to clarify because it might've sounded confusing when referencing the real human past the Minecraft character.

When he opened his eyes, Verity was leaning over him, lowering himself until their eyes were nearly level, though Mob still had to look up to meet his gaze. There was a red glint dancing behind the obsidian black of his eyes, predatory and hungry.
"Why are you trying to leave me?" Verity asked, his voice low, curious.
Mob kept his eyes fixed on his, his breathing short and shallow. He tried to stay calm.
"Verity, let me go."
"You said you came back for me," Verity continued as if he hadn't said anything. "Why are you trying to leave me again?"
Mob tried to wrench his wrist free, but the grip only dug deeper into his flesh, in a way Mob knew would leave bruises. His eyes narrowed at the sharp flare of pain.
"Verity... you're hurting me."

Summary
Verity doesn't understand why humans call obsession a bad thing. He watches Mob because he cares. He keeps him safe because he loves him. He removes anything that could hurt him.
If that means Mob can never leave, isn't that just proof of devotion?
Or
The AI in his Minecraft world has become something far beyond a helpful companion, and the farther Mob tries to pull away, the deeper Verity buries himself into every corner of his life. His computer. His phone. His apartment. Outside the game, watching him sleep.
Verity only wants to make Mob happy. He'd do anything for him.
