    Like many middle schoolers, Ritsu Kageyama and his entire grade have a required violin concert. While playing an instrument isn’t important to him, having someone there for a milestone is. When unfortunately timed scheduling conflicts prevent both of his parents and his brother from being able to make it to the performance, Ritsu has an opinion on who the next best person to make sure this jumpy, angst-ridden adolescent has a supporter in the audience should be. And the author gets reminded of a lot of different specific feelings and experiences from youth.

    Whumptober 2023 Day 30: Borrowed Clothing/Bridal Carry/Not much longer

    Edward expected to be belittled and teased, but Mustang made no such comments as he took his first steps forward, and Edward instinctively gripped to the man’s chest to keep from falling, head against his cheek. Stubble was rough on his temple and Ed felt his cheeks flush with embarrassment, but Mustang was silent beyond a heaving breath as he maneuvered Ed.

    It’s…weird. Being held. Ed hasn’t been held in so long, not since his mother died and probably not so closely since Alphonse was born, and the feeling it causes in his chest is warm and off and strangely longing. The touch, the affection, though not really freely given, ignites a long stuffed down, childish want for touch. It soothes something in his chest and calms his breathing, like a balm against the torrent in his mind.

    Broken automail and painful nerves means Ed can’t walk, and chilly weather makes being carried all that more humiliated. Especially when it’s the bastard Colonel.

    Whumptober 2023 Day 29: Scented Candle/Troubled Past Resurfacing/What happened to me?

    Mob knows he's wrong.  He's know since the day he could speak, the day he ventured outside his family unit and spoke with peers, that he was made incorrectly.  His very core, his very way of speaking and habits and interactions, were bathed in a sense of malpractice he could hardly understand.  Students and friends and adults would forever gaze at him with a curious look, fretting and whispering, full of scorn that he could not be like the rest.  He's not human he feels, even if he wasn't an Esper, because he cannot act like a person, nor does he feel people treat him like one, and for good reason.  He must try at what comes naturally to humans, to being a person, and he fails each time.

    Or

    A candle bleeds introspection, and Mob struggles with his role in his life and how others perceive him, despite his best abilities to be someone that people can love.
