“Mike,” Will starts, closing the binder and pushing it away, turning to Mike so that they’re face to face, only about a foot between them. “There’s something I haven’t been…totally honest about. It’s- it’s about the painting, the one that Jane commissioned.” Will feels his face burn up, and his hands start shaking. Even as he’s telling the truth, he’s stating the lie. Will looks down at his hands; fumbled together to stop from shaking, to have some control. Just tell him. “Well, she didn’t- I mean-…she had nothing to do with it. It was a lie, I’m sorry, Mike.”
Or:
After the DND campaign is over, Mike and the party have dinner together. Mike invites Will to spend the night, after hardly spending any one-on-one time together in over a year. Feelings come out, and the painting that seemed to never be talked about again finally unfolds, among other things.
