"How are you and Jesper doing?"
Oh, Ghezen. How did he even answer that? With Jesper, Wylan felt like a sexist portrayal of an 18th-century woman getting the vapors. All the time. It was horrible. And wonderful. He didn't have words for it that wouldn't make him sound deeply unwell.
"Well," Wylan said, after a pause that went on slightly too long. "He's mine. And I'm his."

“That is not my sister.”
”It’s just a bunch of bones, Sherlock. How could you know that?”
”My sister had a broken arm; that arm is not broken.”
His chest tightened as the gravity of their discovery finally wove its way through him.
”That is not my sister,” he re-stated with more certainty.
Rewrite of this scene in which Sherlock does not run back to the house but instead has something akin to a panic attack.

Summary
James was cheeky and self assured. Both things Sherlock envied about his companion. Though he tried not to think on it too much. But James made that hard. It was as if he hadn't even the need to put any effort into adding a bit of cheekiness into a conversation. It seemed to just flow out of him with ease, without a thought about it.
Until he spoke with Sherlock that was. Sherlock didn't know why he always ended up with that different version of his friend. And he pondered that maybe that was the reason why. That James was his friend, nothing more and nothing less.
