The commodore just rolls his eyes once more, pocketing Martyn’s pistol in its holster and the keys to his cell along with it, “I’ll send someone down when your letter of approval arrives from Scar. Till then,” He jabs a finger at him warningly, “Play nice.”
“Ooo,” Martyn coos, raising his hands in faux-surrender, “Very scary. I’ll be expecting a written apology when all this is over. And all of my things.”
No reaction is given in response, the man simply turns and begins to ascend the stairs. Martyn snaps forward, one hand curled around a bar, “All of it, commodore, I kept track of every goddamn cent!” He didn’t. Not that he needs to know that though if it keeps his finances in the green for when he gets the hell out of here.
The door above him slams shut with deafening finality.

Summary
Martyn is a news reporter with a knack for reporting on the latest clashes and conflicts between heroes and villains. More often he finds himself writing about the city's supervillains, and now especially he finds himself investigating The Red King, an imposing figure who's recent rise to infamy has captured the attention and fear of the whole city. Martyn knew going into this that any new information on The Red King would be elusive at best, if not impossible to find, and the past couple of hard days searching for clues have proven him right.
So he's more than a bit surprised when he finds himself tied up with The Red King standing right before his eyes.
