Harry has accepted that he will continue living a life he never wanted in order to meet the public‘s expectations. However, that changes when visions begin to overcome him, showing him a man who carries the same deeply rooted pain. Of course, Harry needs to find him.
Or, depressed Harry meets depressed Draco. There are long walks through Scotland, a lot of unresolved history, and beyond that a deep connection no one else could ever understand.

Harry's silence was damning.
"Merlin's saggy left—" Ron couldn't even finish the sentence. "Mate. He doesn't need protecting. He needs you to maybe calm down and possibly seek professional help."
But Harry was already planning. Draco would need someone to watch over him. Someone to ensure his safety. Someone to make sure that beautiful, perfect, completely-capable-of-taking-care-of-himself man never faced danger again.
Someone like Harry.

It's been eleven years since the war, and Draco Malfoy is now a skilled Dispeller for the Ministry's Spirit Division. He used to pride himself on maintaining a healthy work-life balance, but that changed when Harry’s ghost showed up to haunt Malfoy Manor. Draco, although reluctantly, has to figure out who killed his former rival in order for his spirit to move on, as it seems like the most logical course of action. But Harry, on the other hand, becomes attached to more than a sense of justice after realizing how much Draco has matured.

Snape's face went, if possible, even paler. His wand moved in complex patterns over Draco's abdomen, golden light spilling from the tip.
"Merlin," Snape breathed. Then, louder: "Mobilicorpus."
Draco's body rose into the air, still limp, still bleeding despite Snape's healing spells. Snape turned to Harry, and the look in his eyes was murderous.
"If he dies," Snape said, his voice deadly quiet, "if either of them die, Potter, I will make certain you spend the rest of your miserable life in Azkaban. Do you understand me?"
Harry couldn't speak. Could barely breathe. He nodded.
Snape swept from the bathroom, Draco's floating body following him, leaving Harry alone on the blood-soaked floor.

So they stand on the balcony and Malfoy smokes. Harry keeps tracing the movement of the cigarette from his fingertips to his mouth. The way his lips form a little ‘o’ as he exhales the smoke. Harry isn’t drunk, but he’s tipsy enough to not want to mess around anymore. He just wants to know. “So,” he starts, “what the fuck is wrong with you?”
Malfoy looks at him. A slow type of amusement pulls up the right corner of his mouth. It’s a rare thing, now—one of the expressions on Malfoy’s face Harry knows from before. It fills him with a mindless sense of anticipation.
