Summary
He lets the smoke take over his mouth and make its way down his throat and lungs. He chokes on it, coughs and some smoke comes out of his nostrils. It doesn’t feel as good as it used to when he was young. It feels awful and disgusting, but he forces himself to keep smoking until he burns through the entire cigarette.

Jason doesn't smoke anymore. Not necessarily for Lian, although that's part of the reason, but mainly because every time he smells cigarette smoke, it brings him back to the warehouse where his mother delivered him to Joker.

“His name’s Tyler.” Jason suddenly says, finally turning back to him.
Jason’s voice sounds so broken and while he is looking at Roy, his mind seems a million miles away. Empty. His fingers still twitch, reaching for his gun in his holster, and his hair’s a complete mess. Even worse than how it usually is the moment Jason takes his helmet off. Anxious hair-pulling, probably. Something really bad happened to have him in such a state and Roy’s going to try to get to the middle of it.

“Good morning, future exorcists,” was the first thing they heard when the door burst open. The exwires were met with the uncannily cheerful attitude radiating from their headmaster. The mood in the room shifted; cheerful Mephisto was never good news.
“Hello, Mr. Faust,” Yukio greeted the man, doing his best to sound welcoming, “to what do we owe this visit?”
Mephisto theatrically took off his hat and grabbed something inside it. In a puff of pink, glittery smoke, he pulled out what looked like an official letter.
“I have a special mission from the Vatican for you.”
The students perched up in their seats, some looking curious, others looking nervous.
“You will all be sent for a diplomatic meeting with a certain individual that the Vatican wants on their side.” Mephisto read while widely grinning. “Your job will be to get him to join the True Cross, while also gaining information on him and his weaknesses in case the alliance doesn’t work.”
